Learning Objectives:  Participants will (be able to):
  1. Recognize clinical and laboratory features of toxin-mediated hemolytic anemia in patients presenting with sepsis and jaundice.
  2. Interpret peripheral smear findings, including ghost cells, in the evaluation of severe hemolysis.
  3. Differentiate hemolysis-related hyperbilirubinemia from primary hepatic causes of jaundice.
  4. Describe empiric antimicrobial strategies for suspected clostridial infection, including the role of toxin-suppressing agents.
  5. Identify indications for early surgical source control in severe infection complicated by ongoing hemolysis.
