Paul LaSala, MD

P. Rocco LaSala is the Director of Clinical Microbiology at John Dempsey Hospital and an Associate Professor of Pathology at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia and completed his residency training in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Vermont followed by fellowship training in medical microbiology at the University of Texas Medical Branch. During his 20 years of practice at MD Anderson Cancer Center, West Virginia University Ruby Memorial Hospital, and UConn Health, Dr. LaSala has served in leadership roles including as Directors of Clinical Laboratories, Point of Care Testing, Clinical Microbiology, and Molecular Microbiology. His current clinical interests and research focus primarily on laboratory stewardship, test utilization, and informatics.
