Session Description: This session will help Site Directors distinguish formative from summative feedback, understand how expectations evolve across stages of medical training, and use evidence‑based frameworks to deliver timely, specific, behavior‑based feedback. Participants will practice writing clear, competency‑focused narrative evaluations that avoid common pitfalls and support learner growth while remaining honest, fair, and professionally responsible.
 
Session Learning Objectives:  Participants will (be able to):
  1. Distinguish between formative and summative feedback.
  2. Describe how expectations for student performance change across levels of medical training
  3. Apply at least 2 frameworks for giving timely, specific, behavior-based feedback.
  4. Identify common pitfalls in narrative comments and strategies to avoid them.
  5. Write a narrative evaluation that clearly reflects observed behaviors, competencies and readiness for next stage of training.
  6. Provide feedback that supports growth while remaining honest, fair and professionally responsible.
