In the context of pain management, participants will (be able to):
1. Describe the need for Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) for patients/clients with psychoactive substance misuse.
2. Define evidence-based approaches for identifying patients/clients with at-risk substance use.
3. List the components of effective brief interventions to mitigate substance misuse and associated problems in patients/clients.
4. Identify effective SBIRT implementation strategies for use in practice.
