Wael El Mallah, MD Msc PhD

Wael El-Mallah, MD, MSc, PhD, FACC, FSCAI is a nationally and internationally recognized interventional and structural cardiologist with extensive expertise in complex coronary and transcatheter structural heart interventions. He currently serves as Interim Director of Structural Interventional Cardiology at UConn Health and is an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, while also practicing with Starling Physicians / VillageMD.
Dr. El-Mallah completed advanced fellowship training in interventional cardiology, structural and peripheral interventions, and adult congenital heart disease at premier institutions including the Cleveland Clinic, Case Western Reserve University, and the University of Kentucky. His clinical focus includes transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), mitral valve interventions, left atrial appendage closure, PFO/ASD closure, pulmonary vascular interventions, and high-risk complex coronary procedures utilizing advanced hemodynamic support.
An award-winning educator and mentor, Dr. El-Mallah has held multiple leadership roles directing structural heart programs and cardiovascular fellowship training. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and has presented widely at major scientific meetings including ACC, SCAI, EuroPCR, and international cardiology congresses.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, serves as a journal reviewer for leading cardiovascular publications, and is currently pursuing an Executive MBA at Yale School of Management, reflecting his commitment to clinical leadership and healthcare innovation.
