Yanlin Wang, MD, PhD, FASN, is a tenured Professor of Medicine and the Chief of the Division of Nephrology in the Department of Medicine, Doctoral and Postdoctoral advisor, Co-Director of MD/PhD program at University of Connecticut (UConn) School of Medicine. He earned his medical degree from Shandong Second Medical University, his master’s degree from Fudan University, and his PhD degree in Pharmacology from the University of Texas Medical Branch. He then did his post-doctoral research training at Harvard Medical School/Brigham and Women’s Hospital. After his medical residency training in Internal Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine affiliated hospital, he completed his clinical Nephrology fellowship training at Baylor College of Medicine. He joined the faculty as Assistant Professor in the Section of Nephrology, Department of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in 2008 and promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in 2013.  He was recruited to UConn School of Medicine to lead the Division of Nephrology in 2018.

As a Nephrologist, Dr. Wang takes care of patients at the UConn John Dempsey Hospital and the VA Connecticut Healthcare System. As a clinician scientist, he has been investigating the cellular and molecular mechanisms of kidney injury, inflammation, and fibrosis. His research has been funded by grants from the National Institutes Health and the Department of Veterans Affairs, the American Heart Association, and private foundations. As an educator and a mentor, he is dedicated to fostering the career of medical students, graduate students, residents, clinical fellows and postdoctoral research fellows. He served as President of the Chinese American Society of Nephrology from 2022-2025.
